Running a team

Everything about a business lives in Mission Control's organization area, and every Orbit app reads it from there. These are the tasks owners and admins do most.

Roles

  • Owners manage everyone, change roles and remove admins.
  • Admins invite and remove members and manage plain members' mail.
  • Members manage their own name and mailboxes, and see the rest read-only.

Nobody in these roles, and nobody at Orbit, can read a member's end-to-end encrypted mail, chats or vault items.

Invite people

Under Members, enter an email address and a role. The invitation link works for 14 days and only for that address, so a forwarded link does nothing. Send again replaces the link; Revoke cancels it. Someone who already has a personal Orbit account is told that joining replaces it, and has to agree before they join.

Remove someone

Removing a member ends their access to the business in every Orbit app: they lose its workspaces, shared mailboxes, channels and shared vaults, and the apps drop the business at their next check. What they shared with the business stays with it. If it was their last business, they get a fresh personal account the next time they sign in.

Mail for each person

Under Mail, then Users, give each person mailboxes and aliases on your domains, move their sign-in name onto your domain, and give them access to shared mailboxes, with Send as where they should reply from it. Domains and addresses

Shared password vaults

In Orbit Pass, make a shared vault and add people from your organization. Each has their own copy of the vault's key, and a role: owner (everything), manager (members and items), editor (items) or viewer (read and fill). People who leave the organization are taken out of its shared vaults.

Turn apps off

Every Orbit app is on for every business. Under Orbit apps, turn off the ones your people don't use: nobody can then sign in to that app with your business, though nothing in it is deleted, and turning it back on picks up where people left off.

Sign in to your own apps with Orbit

Under Applications, register an app of your own and Mission Control gives you a client ID, a secret and every endpoint. It's a standard OpenID Connect provider, so any library with a generic OIDC option works. An app registered from the business is managed by its owners and admins, and people see exactly what it will learn before they approve it. Mission Control can't sign people in through another provider such as Okta, Entra ID or Google. What IT teams ask

Billing

A business pays for the licenses it assigns, with a minimum of two paid users, and you can mix plans across your team: Starter for some, Pro or Max for others, Free for the rest. Owners and admins assign licenses and upgrade from Billing, and set the billing contact there. Business pricing

Devices

Orbit MDM and Orbit RMM manage the phones and computers your team uses, free on up to 10 devices each, and record every action taken on a device and who took it. Orbit MDM · Orbit RMM

Deleting the business

A deleted business can be restored for 30 days, and then it's removed for good.
