Orbit RMM

Know when a computer needs you, before anyone has to tell you.

One small agent on Windows, Mac and Linux reports each computer's health and inventory, installs updates in the window you choose and runs your scripts. You hear about a full disk or a stopped service before it turns into a problem. Free for up to 10 devices.

  • Windows 10, 11 and Server
  • macOS
  • Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, RHEL, openSUSE
What it does

Fix things before anyone calls you.

Live health

CPU, memory, disks and uptime, with a day of history for every computer.

Monitors and alerts

Thresholds, stopped services, offline machines and missing updates, by email or webhook, with a fix that runs itself.

Patching

Windows Update, macOS Software Update, apt, dnf and zypper, approved by severity and installed on schedule.

Signed scripts and a console

A library to start from, your own scripts, and commands that run in seconds.

Software deployment

Installers checked against their SHA-256 before they run, on one computer or a group.

Hardware and software inventory

Every model, serial, disk and installed program, kept up to date.

Patching

Updates approved by severity, installed while nobody's working.

Every computer scans once a day, with Windows Update, macOS Software Update or its own package manager. A schedule approves what you choose (every critical and important update, say) and installs it in your maintenance window, restarting only when an update needs it.

  • One list across every computer. See which update is missing where, and approve it everywhere at once.
  • Alerts for what slips. A monitor opens an alert when critical updates are missing or a restart has waited too long.
Built like the rest of Orbit

An agent that only runs what you signed.

Remote management tools are a favorite target, because whoever controls them controls every computer. Orbit RMM is built so that taking over the network, or standing in the middle of it, isn't enough to run anything on your computers.

Every task is signed

Scripts, installs and restarts are signed with the server's key. The agent pinned that key when it enrolled and refuses anything else.

Nothing runs twice

Each task names its computer and expires; the agent keeps a record of what it has run and refuses a replay.

Downloads are checked

Software and agent updates come over https and are checked against the SHA-256 in the signed task before they run.

On the record

Every command, its output and who sent it, kept per computer and in the organization's activity log.

How is the agent installed?
One command, copied from Orbit RMM over HTTPS: curl … | sudo sh on Mac and Linux, or a line of PowerShell on Windows. It runs as a service, and from then on it verifies every task and every update of itself against the server's signature before running it.
Does it work with Orbit MDM?
Yes, and a computer with both is one record. MDM sets the device up and keeps it compliant; the agent adds health, scripts, patching and software.
Where do alerts go?
To email and any webhook, such as Slack or Microsoft Teams, and to the portal. A monitor can run a fix-it script the moment it fires.
Is there remote desktop?
Yes. The console runs commands in seconds, and remote terminal and desktop sessions let you take over a computer when you need to see what's on the screen.
